Counselling Blog: The Top Five Regrets of the... →
A nurse has recorded the most common regrets of the dying, and among the top ones is ‘I wish I hadn’t worked so hard’. What would your biggest regret be if this was your last day of life?
There was no mention of more sex or bungee jumps. A palliative nurse who has counselled the dying in their…
Last night, I had a dream that Jesus came (like a thief in the night!) to take all his people home, but, talk about humility, he came as a mouse.
It seems so ironic that it’s at church that they tell us to say “no” and allow time to do things we need to get done, but it’s with church related events that I feel most pressured to say “yes”.
The Town
The word “town” makes me think of a sleepy place, lacking in population, culture, and overall appeal. I can’t help but picture grey skies and grey faces a midst a cluster of grey, broken down homes.
But that is not what my town is like. My town is youthful and energetic. A place for those just like myself. The buzz of the town is a pleasant one—like that of the city...
I’m like “since when am I following all these 1D bl—- Waaaait, those are just my friends.”
Clearly the best part of being English:
“Dad, can you put my boots in the boot?”
And it makes perfect sense to put windshield washer fluid in the bonnet.
Character > Reputation
At youth, we took a look at what was called the ten digital commandments. One that really stuck out to me was this idea of character vs. reputation. It’s so easy (especially on a blog… ehem…) to get caught up in being aware of and focused on how people see you. But is that really worth much at the end of the day? My experience is that it’s reputation (and maintenance of...

I long for a fellowship with Christ which consists of non-stop prayer. I want deliberate trust and awareness of the presence of the Lord. I want the saving love of Christ to be the measure of my life, because I believe that he is all to us.
I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because...

I have decided that, in order to ski safely, I ought to get a wing mirror for my helmet, as well as a flashlight for poor visibility days.
Little awesome things:

Bridget Jones is fantastic.
“You don’t have to try to make me feel stupid! I already feel stupid most of the time!”
In some ways, what seems more appealing Is love as a bright fluffy feeling, But the thing that truly gives vision, Is love as a constant decision.
For love that’s shown as a choice Speaks louder than the snakelike voice Which says “Right now, this thing is failing, Why not consider bailing?”

God did cool things today.
So, after spare, I was a little… crazy, because I definitely was not understanding math, and I definitely have a test tomorrow, and I definitely thought I might fail it. But I had to pull myself together, because I teach on Tuesdays, and one can’t really show up at a students house in a frenzy and such. So I perked up, and got my student’s house, but his mum came to the door,...

When I’m faithless, he is faithful, and when I am empty, he drowns me in his sweet embrace, and when I’m far away, he draws me. Our God is an awesome God.
Pater: It seems weird to write "I have no depth perception" on forms.
Kirsten: Do you ever forget the "perception" part?
blueumbrella:
Don’t let your perception of God be blurred and distorted by what you are going through. Instead, let God’s unchanging promises be the lens through which you see your situation.

Someone to tell it to is one of the fundamental needs of human beings.

Still more scrabble:
Mum: Can you have trug?
Dad: TRUG? That's not a word!
Mum: Like you trug along!
Dad: You TRUDGE along!
Mum: In Scotland, you trug!
Scrabble with my mum:
Mum: I'm gonna win!
Later...
Mum: Is "li" a word?
Dad: No.
Mum: Is "di" a word?
Dad: No.
Mum: Is "gi" a word?
Dad: Shall we just look up all the two letter words ending in I?
Kirsten: You can do "pi".
Mum: I don't have a "p". This is hurting my pride. We should play Scottish scrabble. Then I'd win.
Later...
Mum: I'm gonna win! You wait and see!
I’m tempted to cover The Book Of Love, because even though I think the lyrics are very slightly stupid, it’s so simple and lovely.
TBH. Never honest.

ALL. THE. TIME.
Can’t say I do.
He said “I am God, and I am bigger than this.”
Only halfway in.
But when there was pity, And when there was wealth, You wasted neither on yourself.
The only resolution (and the only joy) is the faint spark of forgiveness in your eye.

Sarah’s dad got these really awesome headphones on business, and, for some reason decided that I should have them. I think the idea is that, since they’re noise cancelling, they’d be solid for drumming. And they are. They’re also perfect for recording. But, mostly, I’m using them for shutting everything but quality music out when I’m trying to work. Quality...
To do
I’m such a to do list type person. No joke. I have, in my mind, a list of a hundred things I need to do (at least 80 of which are absolutely pointless!), and I have them ordered according to priority, and at the end of the day, it’s tiring. And I think the best to do list is: Know God. Love God. Rest in God. And really, my part of this can be summarized. Read scripture, communicate...
